Valentine Cookie Exchange
The Sierra Nevada Sigma Kappa Alumnae Group had their Valentine Cookie Exchange on Sunday, February 10. Let me tell you - the women in our alumnae group sure know how to bake! Look at all these wonderful cookies!
We also welcomed two new members to our group - Krista McCord and Rachel Brahler! We're so excited to have you two join our group. Can't wait to see everyone next month for our St. Patrick's Day Celebration and Wine Wednesday.
Founders' Day 2012
This year, the Sierra Nevada Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter celebrated Founders' Day with the Kappa Xi Chapter at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Epsilon Lambda Chapter from California State University, Sacramento.
The event took place at Silver Legacy Resort & Casino in downtown Reno on Nov. 11.
We celebrated our five founders - Mary Low Carver, Elizabeth Gorham Hoag, Ida Fuller Pierce, Frances Mann Hall and Louise Helen Coburn - while enjoying a delicious lunch with our sisters.
Thank you for everyone who attended this year. It was a beautiful celebration.
Kappa Xi takes home Chapter of the Year at All Greek Ball

It was a big night for Kappa Xi at All Greek Ball on Nov. 16. They took home the following awards:
- Academic Excellence Award
- Excellence in Member Education
- Nevada Pride
- Excellence in Philanthropic Event
- Excellence in Alumnae Relations
- Greek Woman of the Year went to Lindsay Decker
- University Academic Excellence Award
- University Outstanding Service Award

Walk to End Alzheimer's 2012
Annually, Sigma Kappa Sorority participates in Walk to End Alzheimer's. As stated on the Walk to End Alzheimer's website, "The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ is the nation’s
largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support
and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide,
this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to
reclaim the future for millions..."
On Saturday, September 29, our alumnae chapter joined the Kappa Xi chapter at the University of Nevada, Reno to raise funds and awareness for this devastating disease. The alumnae team raised $927.22 this year! Thank you to all who participated and donated to this wonderful cause.
Also, a big thank you to the Kappa Xi chapter for hosting an alumnae breakfast at their house. They provided muffins and coffee from My Favorite Muffin. What a great way to wake up in the morning! They also hooked us up with great swag. Look at our shirts!

All Chapter Meeting - August 19, 2012

We had our first all chapter meeting this evening at Brittney Roundtree's house. The meeting went well and a lot of plans are in the making for this semester!
Couple BIG things to mention:
- Meagan Eng is our new Vice President of Philanthropic Services.
- Tayler Cummings is our new Public Relations Chairman.
- We started our first Special Interest Group. It's dedicated to our young alumnae. We will be meeting at the West Street Wine Bar in Reno every second Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
- First event will be held September 12th. The following Wine Wednesdays will be on October 10th and November 14th. We will pick back up in February of 2013.
- Next month's event, along with our First Wine Wednesday, will be our annual philanthropy event "Walk to End Alzheimer's". Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 29th. Be on the lookout for more details from Meagan Eng and Jenna Herzog.
