Sigma Kappa Foundation Scholarship Program Application & UIFI Scholarship Application

Dear Sisters:

The board of trustees of the Sigma Kappa Foundation is pleased to offer the 2012-2013 scholarships to benefit both collegiate and alumnae members of Sigma Kappa. Please notify chapter members that scholarships are available. These scholarships will be available for the fall 2012 term. Applications will be accepted beginning January 1, 2012. All applications must be submitted no later than March 15, 2012.

Before accessing the online scholarship application form, members should prepare the following required information:

Official GPA on a 4.00 Scale
Members should report their official cumulative GPA based on the most recently available academic period and should report the two digits beyond the decimal. No rounding is permitted.

While no documentation is required at the time of application, verification of GPA and enrollment will be requested from students who are selected to receive a scholarship.

As loyalty is one of Sigma Kappa’s values, students are expected to be loyal to themselves and the Foundation by reporting accurate and truthful information. Any student found to have knowingly reported false information will be deemed ineligible.

Financial Aid Details
Members who have applied for financial aid using the FAFSA form should have their Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) available. Additionally, all applicants are expected to complete a declaration of financial need that comprises expected educational costs and sources of income to pay expenses.

Personal Essay
Personal essays must be submitted through the online application form, but can be prepared in a text-editing program such as Microsoft Word, and then cut and pasted into the application. Maximum length is 500 words.

The personal essay prompt is as follows:  "Please provide an essay describing yourself, your career goals upon graduation, and why you feel you are qualified to receive a Sigma Kappa Foundation scholarship award."

Two Recommendation  Letters
It is the responsibility of all applicants to request letters of recommendation from two individuals to complete the application process. Recommendation  letters are accepted only through the Foundation website using the scholarship recommendation  form

Individuals completing the recommendation form may access the form at any time during the application process. All letters of recommendation must be submitted by the scholarship application submission deadline of March 15, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. No exceptions will be made. Please give plenty of advance notice to ensure that these individuals are able to write the recommendation  letters and submit them by the deadline.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring  that their requested letters of recommendation are submitted by the application deadline and must understand that without two letters of recommendation, their applications are considered incomplete and ineligible for scholarship awards.
For undergraduate applicants, one recommendation must come from either a chapter advisor, collegiate  province officer (CPO), or collegiate district director (CDD).

To apply, access the online  scholarship application form. You must submit your application  by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 15, 2012, through the online application  form. No exceptions will be made.

UIFI is a five day institute that brings  together fraternity men and sorority women from across North America to create opportunities to explore, define, and enhance their leadership skills, personal awareness, commitment to their fraternity or sorority, and grow to expect values based action from themselves and those they lead.

At UIFI, you will be given the skills to improve your own leadership abilities and positively affect your chapter, council, and community. Sigma Kappa Foundation offers scholarships to Sigma Kappa undergraduate members to attend.

UIFI scholarship applications are accepted January 1 through March 31. All applications  must be submitted through the online  UIFI scholarship applicationto Sigma Kappa Foundation. Applications for UIFI scholarships are reviewed and recipients selected by the Sigma Kappa Foundation Executive Director.
